Practices you as an organized person should do

Updated: May 16, 2022

Before showing you ways you can become an organized person, let’s first understand the word. An organized personality is a person who is naturally neat, punctual, and detailed. (reference)

I consider myself organized.

Today I will share some of the ways you can become an organized person according to my experience.

Even if you think you are already an organized person you can then go through the list, maybe you will find something new and usefulšŸ˜‰

Let me first share the reason why I became an organized person myself:

I am a very curious person, so if I find something interesting I try it. I started watching videos of YouTubers like Ali Abdaal, Thomas Frank, who are productivity gurus.

According to them by becoming an organized person you become more efficient, resulting in increased productivity.

So I gave it a try and I am glad about it.

Organized people’s life is decluttered as they are organized they find things they need very easily.

And in my experience, I can clearly see improvement in my life after becoming organized.

Top 3 practices that Discipline people that you should also do

1. Keep things back to their place

An organized person always keeps things in their place. For example, keeping all your stationery in one drawer, keeping papers in their respected folders.

This makes them more efficient, as they can find things easily.

2. Create your own system

The number one tip to become an organized person is to create your own Personnel management system.

What do I mean by a Personnel management system?

For me, it is a system that I trust the most and put everything into it.

You can create your personnel management system with any application.

I personally use Notion as my personnel management system.

In my Notion, I put my to-do lists, might to-do list, Morning Pages, all my notes (Booknotes, college, etc.), Also I have a list of projects I am currently working on, and many more things… If you want to know more about my Notion personal management system, let me know in the comments.

If you want to kick-start with Notion, Thomas Frank is the best person to learn from. His Courses are 100% free.

Now, let me explain to you why I am emphasizing creating your own system:

You can easily be organized in the physical world, by cleaning your room, work station. But in today’s world, there is a need to become organized digitally too.

Now, what do I mean to become organized digitally?

It means, your digital files should be organized properly in different folders, your notes, meeting schedules, and notes should be kept properly.

You should add everything which is going into your mind to your system, because organized people have records of everything they do or have to do, so they don’t forget things.

As David Allen in his book ā€œGetting Things Done,ā€ says, ā€œYour mind is for having ideas, not holding them.ā€ Therefore organized people, don’t keep things in their mind they put them into their system.

Remember organize people follow the below principle:

ā€œYour system is your second brain.ā€

Organized people always organize their notes properly in their system so they can be found when needed. Making them more efficient and disciplined.

I have already covered how to take notes in my previous newsletter, if you haven’t read it, do give it a read.šŸ˜‰.

3. Doing the task before head

Remember, organized people always plan before the head, they don’t delay their work. They put assignments they receive immediately and plan their project as soon as possible, they don’t wait for the deadline to arrive, they make their own deadline before their actual deadline.

If you think becoming organized will make you a better version of yourselves, will increase your productivity, write the below task in your To-Do list and complete all the tasks.

  1. Create your own personal system (I recommend using notion)

  2. Organized all your digital files

  3. Organized all your physical things (files, books, stationery, and everything)

My Favorite Things

SkillShare Class

ā€œAli Abdaal’s Masterclass on productivityā€ in Skillshare was a life-changing class for me

I made some changes in my productivity system in Notion, after watching his masterclass and I was able to clearly see the improvement within a week.

Anyone who watched Ali Abdaal’s YouTube video and wants to increase his productivity and be more efficient should definitely watch his masterclass.

Podcast

Ali Abdaal recently started the new podcast ā€œDeep Dive with Ali Abdaalā€ and this podcast is my favorite podcast.

In the season finale, Ali shared all his favorite glims from all his guests on the podcast. Even if you haven’t listened to any podcast of Deep Dive, you can still grasp the core lessons from all the podcasts, from this single episode.

Even if you are not a fan of podcasts, do give it listen, I am sure you would love it.

Videos

If you want to start by investing in the stock market or are interested in learning how to trade, and want to know about the stock market this is the best playlist for beginners to start with.

In this Video Tanmay Bhatt with Prateek Singh who is the founder of learn app is very experienced with trading. He teaches all the complex concepts in a very easy way.

Even though I was not that much into the share market and trading, I found this playlist very insightful.

I hope you too find this Insightful.

Books

Zero to One

Zero to One Book is, especially for entrepreneurs. The author of the book Peter Theil gives valuable lessons on notes of startups and building the future.

Peter Theil was the Co-Founder of Paypal

I skimmed from some chapters as didn’t find them interesting personally, but other than that there are very valuable lessons to learn.

One of the valuable takeaways for me is, If you think that you can create a monopoly in a big market at the start, you are wrong. Therefore, start with a small niche, and then after creating a monopoly there, start expanding into the bigger niche.

One of my favorite thing about this book is, Author gives examples of a real company, for explaining his concepts.
